"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." Psalms 55:22
We are called to carry each other's burdens but how many of us really know what one another's burdens are? We ask people how they are doing or if anything is new but do we really care or dig deeper to hear them out?
A lot of times I use the excuse that I am too busy with my kids to really go more in depth in a conversation with someone. In between the little kid interruptions, multi-tasking, and noise around me I admit at times I am conversing but not really listening. But lately as I have been browsing Facebook and reading scripture I have been reminded more to help bare the burden of those around me.
There are so many people that I know suffering with:
miscarriages, IVF, cancer, diabetes, relationships, raising children, school, adoption, finances, etc. I am sure you too know people going through a dark valley in regards to this as well.
In our family some of our current burdens are Calvin's asthma, Nick staying healthy, contentment, and student loans. And to be honest many times during my prayer time I am mostly praying for my own personal and family related needs rather than those around me and those in the body of Christ. I have a little journal that I have started putting prayer requests and praises in. It is in a quiet part of our home and I love being able to visually see the needs of my friends and family. I am a sinner and am often needing reminders on bringing requests before our God, so this is very helpful.
So friends, what are your burdens? How can I best pray for you? Are you currently walking through a dark valley? Do you too find it hard to pray for others because you are wrapped up with your own situations and burdens?
