This past week was jammed packed with visitors, food, and events. I have eaten more than I have in months in a weeks time and am so excited that Christmas is coming up.
My dad and his wife came into town from Connecticut to meet Max for the first time and spend some time with all of us. Calvin was so excited to pick them up from the "airfork" even though he fell asleep on the way. They took us out to celebrate our anniversary to George's on the Cove, the view was amazing and we will definitely be going back. By Wednesday my mom and I started to cook for Thanksgiving. My mom literally plans for us to have 6 courses so getting a head start was crucial.
Thanksgiving Day was great and it was actually cold in San Diego which added to the fall feel. Our Thanksgiving menu looked like this:
Course 1: Butternut Squash Soup w/ croutons
Course 2: Thanksgiving Lunch (turkey, mashed potatoes, gracy, brussel sprouts, green beans w/ slivered almonds, chestnut stuffing, and vino)
Course 3: Dessert (cheesecake, apple pie, noodle keugel, and ginger cookies)
Course 4: Turkey soup
Course 5: Homemade coconut and chocolate chip ice cream w/ tea and coffee
Course 6: Antipasto (sopresetta, cheese, olives, crackers, marinated mushrooms, and vino)
The next day was sweet Max's 1st birthday. We kept it low key and decorated the house for Christmas and just spent time as a family. I had a great coupon for Michael's and thankfully got a tree, decorations, and more for such a bargain. On Saturday we had a little celebration and had family over for dinner and dessert.
So like I said our whole week revolved around food ;) but who can complain. The holidays are so fun when you have kids around and both my boys loved having tons of attention. Since it's December now the festivities will continue to come and although it can be stressful at times I love having so many opportunities to spend time with our friends and family.
What did you do for Thanksgiving? Do you go shopping on black Friday?
